I signed up to Train2Fight because I wanted a health challenge that took me completely out of my comfort zone. After being a member at a boxing gym for a while and seeing a couple of fights I wanted to learn more about the sport and had no idea how technical it was! For me it was never about hurting someone else more whether or not I could take it.

The highlight of training to fight was mainly the feeling of getting stronger. I’ve never felt more fit, confident or capable in all my life. Plus, I’ve never loved my arms so much in all my life!! I loved learning a new skill and the appreciation of what’s involved in boxing – even if it meant getting punched in the face a lot!

I’d recommend the Train2Fight programme to absolutely anyone! Especially women, the fight team is such a great little community that encourages each other, nothing like getting nailed in the nose by one of your mates!

When I told my friends and family that I was going to train to fight, the surprised reactions I received were not unexpected! For someone that has been known to take their lip gloss on a camping trip, finding out that I was preparing to go 3 rounds in the ring was something that people struggled to imagine. The best feeling at the end of the 10 weeks was proving them all wrong!

Having trained with Train2Fight for about a year (but keeping myself safely away from the ring), deciding to sign up for the challenge wasn’t easy, but it was worth it to prove to myself and the people that know me that with the right ingredients and discipline you can achieve anything you put your mind to. And believe me it was the ultimate test! Having taken part in many sports, nothing even comes close to what I had to put myself through to prepare for the fight and I now have a new found respect for anyone that steps into the ring. Luckily I had the support and guidance of John and his team and it goes to show what fantastic trainers they are by getting me into shape, improving my skills and building my confidence so that I could compete in the Clapham Grand within 10 weeks. The training was intensive and satisfying and you become part of a great group of people all striving for the same aim and you start to look forward to getting there every session.

Overall it was totally crazy, amazing, scary, mentally and physically exhausting, yet a strangely energising and satisfying experience. The support I received was overwhelming and the sense of achievement on the night when Ref Bill held up my hand and I heard my friends, the team and colleagues cheering made it all worth it!!

Nothing focuses the mind and enhances discipline like knowing you will stand in front of hundreds of people and fight another man. And that is what I wanted; to train to fight. My background is as a rugby player and Royal Marine but with both of those careers now behind me, I lacked a focus point – something to channel my energies and give me the same hunger that they used to provide. My fear was that taking up boxing would leave a hole where team work and spirit used to be but nothing could have been further from the truth. You form this awesome group when you are training to fight and John is right at the centre, leading the charge and taking everyone from novice to fighter. Through shared hardship and dedication the bond grows ever stronger and you look forward to getting down there every night.

Finding a gym like Train2Fight is not easy. Surrounded by like-minded people that are not afraid to graft, that want a bit more from themselves and are willing to push to the limit to get it. By immersing yourself in that atmosphere, of course you will train harder – you have no choice and the group energy drags you through.

I’ve always watched the boxing and loved it, since I was young. The first fight I went to was when I was a bit older was Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu. It was such a good atmosphere I said then I would love to give it a go one day!

Training to fight was great. Always fun, but hard work and it was good to be training with people that were doing the fight on the same night. The team spirit was fantastic and everyone at Train2Fight was brilliant and extremely supportive. I loved the sparring and being with people who were also novice to the fight game! I’ve also gained a lot of confidence in my boxing as i’m now able to spar with some really good boxers and hold my own.

The fight night was Incredible. Such a good atmosphere made better with family and friends there to cheer me on. It was extremely well organised. I’m now trying to persuade friends to do it as well! I want to say a big thank you to everyone at Train2Fight for the training and support. Much love!

I signed up to the Train2Fight programme as having the drive of an end goal meant no more excuses for not turning up for training. I had a desire to get fitter!

There was a really enjoyable training environment, challenging but so rewarding at the end of each session. The fight camp in Marbella was tough but I improved massively. It was the earliest I’ve ever got out of bed when staying in a ‘holiday villa’; early morning hill sprints!

On fight night I was full of energy, and so much excitement. Not the ideal result for me but so proud to have made it into the ring in front of that many people. I’d definitely recommend the programme to anyone who could commit to the schedule!

The Train2Fight Programme has been the first thing I’ve done that has really given me a sense of achievement and purpose. I have never been into gyms or team sports, and was always considered ‘unsporty’ growing up!

The rate and amount of progress you will see when you train to fight is totally amazing. Obviously the physical aspect is great, and it’s always nice to see some muscle and tone after all the hard work, but the moment things fall into place in the ring, and you feel your training kicking in is also very fulfilling. My confidence and self-belief have been totally transformed, and I definitely feel more mentally and physically capable than I ever have before.

The fight night was the most exhilarating, terrifying, incredible, exciting, surreal thing I’ve ever done. It was totally amazing seeing my friends and family there cheering me on, and as soon as I got in the ring, I was amazed that the training kicked in and I felt ready to put in 110%. As terrifying and hard as it is, I was helped to relax and be ready, warm and confident before going out, and honestly couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather have in my corner than John, Lily, Kirk and Simon.

I would recommend this to anyone who is determined and has a competitive nature, is looking to do something to take them out of their comfort zone, and to give them a new sense of purpose and achievement. It has nothing to do with aggression, but you do need to be willing to put a huge amount of effort in – it’s definitely worth it! Few things will probably give you the same sense of accomplishment and confidence in your own ability.

Amazing boxing gym with great trainers and classes!! I have been training with Lily and John for the past 18 months at Train2fight. The classes are great forever whatever your personal goal whether that is weight loss or to participate in one of the fight nights. I joined the gym 18 months ago on the boxing basics course with no previous boxing experience, my main motivation for joining was weight loss (having lost 5 stone since joining by regularly attending the classes and nutritional advice from the trainers) . After finishing the boxing basics i decided to participate in one of the fight nights, the 10 week camp was tough and is an intensive training regime but can honestly say the entire 10 weeks and fight night was one of the best experiences.

The 10-week Fight Camp has been a truly transformational experience. Having never boxed before I wasn’t sure what to expect but the team have been fantastic throughout. Everyone got individual attention regardless of experience which helped to build confidence when we drilled technique as a group. Training was always fun and challenging, I was constantly encouraged to break through my self-imposed physical and mental limits and the results have been brilliant for my fitness, self-discipline and general well-being. There’s a great team spirit and no ego or attitude here. If you’re willing to make the commitment I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I have been with Train2Fight for two Fight Camps now. Every training session is taken by dedicated and friendly coaches, Whatever your ability the “Train hard, Fight easy” ethos rings true and there is nowhere to hide during John and Mitches Circuits.

Pain aside, Train2Fight Putney will always ensure you are beyond fighting fit come Fight Night.

Overall fantastic gym and coaches who I will regard not only as my team but also as friends. Cheers!

Boxing is something I never thought I would enjoy, and the only reason I originally took part was that it was for charity.

However, I was definitely wrong! After getting to know the team at Train2Fight through the Fight Camp, and all their help with fitness and boxing, it is definitely something I would do again…

I can’t recommend the Marbella Fight Camp highly enough for anyone taking part in one of the White Collar Boxing events, or even if you’re just training and looking to boost your Weight Loss and Fitness goals. Having just completed the week-long camp for the second year in a row, it was as good as I remembered it to be and more! Everything is taken care of for you, leaving you free to concentrate fully on your training sessions and enjoying yourself with the rest of the group in your free time.

There are 3 sessions each day and they are all hard work! However, they are nicely varied to make sure you never feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again with sprint / running / footwork sessions in the morning, Strength and Conditioning in the afternoon at the world famous MTK Marbella Gym and boxing sessions in the evening. You’ll be pushed to your limits, but the experienced coaches and other attendees are always on hand to pick you up and spur you on to push yourself further than you think is possible. The coaches always lighten up the sessions with their own brand of humour and the one on one coaching time that you get with them really helps you to understand the areas you need to work on and the improvements can be seen immediately.

The private villa is great, well laid out with plenty of space and the pool is a godsend after a hard training session. The private chef also makes sure that there’s ample delicious fresh food all tailored to a healthy diet for you every day, which helped me lose a massive 6 Kilo’s over the course of the week. An amazing week with amazing people in an amazing location, what more can you ask for!

Having decided to take part in a White Collar Boxing match at the beginning of the year, I took a friend’s recommendation to join the Fight Camp with Train2Fight and it was a great decision!
The coaches, John, Lily, Kieran, Colin & Mitch are absolutely fantastic – they are the masters of motivation and are a really fun and supportive team to train with.

I’ve been down three times to support three of my best friends fighting. The atmosphere was amazing!! For the last show we had a table, right by the ring – table service was great – didn’t miss a beat! My friend was first up, and he was so nervous – but it was a brilliant match, it went the distance and he won on points! The new MC was more modern than other’s I have seen, none of those old school jokes that make the crowd wince. The fights were all well matched and it was nice to see a mixture of the full on, all out brawls that get the crowd on their feet, as well as some really sharp skills – testament to the trainers at Train2Fight and the other gyms that come down. Looking forward to the next one!

I have just completed the Boxing Basics Course with Kieran and really enjoyed it. There is just the right amount of basic training to get you started without over confusing a new beginner. Kieran pushes you just hard enough where it still remains enjoyable without over stretching you. It’s a nice friendly gym with great trainers and I will definitely be returning

The Fight Camp experience was truly amazing. After taking a 7 year break from boxing I joint train to fight originally for a Charity Boxing Match, I enjoyed the experience so much so that I’ve signed up as a full time Member for the gym. The gym facilities are brilliant, the coaches gave me good advice to keep on top of my game, the staff are great and there was plenty of help provided for me to get ready for my fight. I would 100% recommend anyone to join whether you are new to boxing or experienced.

And before you ask, yes, it is addictive. As long as you turn up – John and the team will get you where you need to be and will turn you into something that you probably think is impossible when reading this.

Hopefully the photos tell you it paid off! Before this I was out of shape, bored of cardio, doing the same routine, and just needed that new challenge which I got in multiple ways. Everyday is a learning day in the ring. Put the gloves on and turn up and the Train2Fight Team will take you the rest of the way!!!
